| The electric and magnetic polarizabilities of an aperture are its important characteristics in the theory of aperture coupling and diiraction of EM waves. The beam coupling impedances due to a small discontinuity on the chamber wall of an accelerator can also be expressed in terms of the polarizabilities of the discontinuity. The po-larizabilities are geometrical factors which can be found by solving a static (electric or magnetic) problem. However, they are known in an explicit analytical form only for a few simple-shaped discontinuities, such as an elliptic hole in a thin wall. In the present paper the polarizabilities of a ring-shaped cut in the wall of an arbitrary thickness are studied using a combination of analytical, variational and numerical methods. The results are applied to estimate the coupling impedances of button-type beam position monitors.

Lossless broad-band monolithic microwave active inductors - Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Transactions on
* D Abstract --Lossless broad-band microwave active inductors for generalpurpose use in microwave circuits are proposed and their characteristics are discussed. These active inductors are composed of a common-source cascode FET and a feedback FET, and operate in a wide frequency range with very low series resistance. A maximum Q factor of 65 is obtained. Theoretically, it can reach infinity. Fu...
متن کاملMulticonductor Transmission-Line Characterization: Representations, Approximations, and Accuracy - Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Transactions on
This paper investigates a measurement method that characterizes lossy printed multiconductor transmission lines, its accuracy, the choice of measurement representations, and some simple approximations. We illustrate the method with measurements of a pair of lossy coupled asymmetric microstrip lines.

| New formulas for the maximum permissible time step in TLM hybrid nodes modelling anisotropic media are introduced and analyzed. It is shown that the value of the time step in most cases can be higher than that suggested by the minimum node dimension. The chosen value of the time step has signiicant impact on the dispersion characteristics of the hybrid symmetrical condensed node.
متن کاملReduction of Numerical Dispersion in FDTD Method Through Artificial Anisotropy - Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Transactions on
In this paper, a simple and computationally low-cost modification of the standard finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm is presented to reduce numerical dispersion in the algorithm. Both twoand three-dimensional cases are considered. It is shown that the maximum error in phase velocity can be reduced by a factor of 2–7, depending on the shape of the FDTD cell. Although the reduction pr...
متن کاملA Modified Lanczos Algorithm for the Computation of Transient Electromagnetic Wavefields - Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Transactions on
A new method for computing transient electromagnetic wavefields in inhomogeneous and lossy media is presented. The method utilizes a modified Lanczos scheme, where a socalled reduced model is constructed. A discretization of the time variable is then superfluous. This reduced model represents the transient electromagnetic wavefield on a certain bounded interval in time. Some theoretical aspects...
